Welcome to Michelle Gibbs Academy of Dance & Theatre ArtsMichelle Gibbs Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts was founded in 1998 with 8 pupils, it is now well established with over 150 members offering classes for 2 year olds to adults.
Classes include Ballet, Modern, Tap, National, Freestyle, Street Jazz, Cheerleading and Drama.

Michelle began dancing at the age of 2 when she was taken along to a local dance class with her sister. At the age of 5 she told everyone that she was going to be a ballet teacher!
She studied RAD Ballet, ISTD Greek and Modern dance at the Southwick and Glendale school of Dance Worthing. At 16 Michelle gained a place at Laine Theatre Arts Epsom, Surrey and studied all genres of dance and Musical Theatre. In her final year Michelle passed her teaching qualifications in Ballet, Modern, National (Distinction), Theatre Arts and LAMDA Drama and Verse a Prose.
Her first fulltime teaching position was at the Mary Liatsou school of Ballet, Thessaloniki, Greece, where she also learnt to speak Greek.
Upon returning to England she performed as a professional dancer in various troupes performing in Britain and travelling internationally to Japan, Hong Kong and Portugal.
Michelle continued to teach in between contracts in Leicester where she also choreographed for the local Youth Theatre, Pantomime Society and Amateur Theatrical groups.
Michelle has been the Head of Performing Arts at an Independent school in Northampton teaching both GCSE Drama and Dance and then Btec Level 2 Performing Arts. Many past students have gone on to continue their Performing Arts studies and gained places at Arts Ed and Urdang Academies.
Michelle has been delighted to see some of her ex students performing professionally in Miss Saigon and Sister Act.
Alongside her position at the school Michelle founded the Michelle Gibbs Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts in Rushden which continues to grow and flourish. Michelle also runs workshops in schools and nurseries and has choreographed for both Rushden and Wellingborough pantomime societies.
Throughout her career Michelle has continued to study gaining her ISTD Associate Diploma, IDTA Ballet, Modern and Jazz Associate, FRYOG Diploma in teaching Yoga, RSA Exercise to Music diploma. Michelle has participated in advanced courses for Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz dance. She has also taken part in street workshops with Urban Strides and Lizzie Gough, American tap with Tap Attack and Break dance and Contemporary workshops. She has attended the IDTA teachers conferences in Leicester and from 2010 the International Dance Teachers Conference held at the Royal Ballet School Covent Garden. Michelle has been invited to observe and participate in workshops from the faculty and principal dancers of the Royal Ballet School.
From January 2015 Michelle is starting the ISTD level 6 Diploma in Dance Pedagogy and Licentiate Ballet.
Michelle has the Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate, Emergency First Aid at Work certificate and is a full member of the ISTD, IDTA and FRYOG societies.
